  • Our Biggest Open Mic Night to date?

    Yes, this last open mic night of the semester could quite possibly be our BIGGEST open mic night we at Volition have ever had! We are happy to announce that we are partnering with House Studios, a Grammy-winning multi-media recording company! Three of their signed artists, Mannywellz, Sydney Franklin, and Luke James Shaffer, will be in attendance! WE WANT EVERYONE who has ANY talent to come on out on Thursday, March 8th!   • Open Mic Night November 10

    A big thank-you to everyone who submitted work to Volition this semester. The Fall 2017 issue is coming soon! In the meantime, our second Open Mic Night is on Friday, Nov. 10 from 7–10 PM in the JC Bistro. There will be music, prose, poetry, comedy, and food! Invite your friends!

  • Fall for the Book and Volition Book Swap

    Fall for the Book is this week! Make sure to check out all the great events in the area, especially the ones happening on our very own GMU campus. You can find a schedule on their web site here: http://fallforthebook.org/schedule/ Also, from Wednesday–Friday, Volition is hosting a book swap. Bring a book to donate, and take a book home! We’ll be in the JC Plaza Tent.

    The Volition staff hopes you had a wonderful and delicious Thanksgiving!   The end of the semester is quickly approaching and you know what that means — the magazine is about to come out! We’re placing the orders sometime this week so expect issues to come flying in before winter break starts.   • MCN & Volition’s Volonté Film Fest!

    MCN & Volition’s Volonté Film Fest Create a 6 to 8 minute original short film. The theme for the contest is volition “free will.” Deadline: Before November 8th, 2012 at Noon. The winner will be announced on November 9th, 2012. 1st Prize Winner will receive: $250.00 Guidelines: Must be a GMU undergraduate student No nudity Cursing is allowed Must follow theme No racial slurs No copyrighted material Files must be in mpg2 format Note: Your film will be disqualified if you do not follow these guidelines.     Hello everyone, Thank you to everyone who came to Slam Jam 2012! It was a great way to end the Spring semester. The Spring 2012 issue of Volition magazine was distributed in May. There are printed copies still available in Sub II (THE HUB) in the Student Media Office.
